Introduction to a future Graphic Designer

 Introduction Post

My name is Samuel Carroll and I am twenty years old I am currently studying in TUD Blanchardstown and am in year two of Creative Digital Media. I enjoyed all my modules from year one but the one that I liked the most would have to be Design Process and Practice as I really enjoyed using Adobe Illustrator and enjoyed completing the different tasks that we were given each week and getting to learn more about Illustrator as the weeks went on. My favourite part of the module would have been the Film Poster assignment which we had to use the film we had chosen based off our website from Web Development in semester one. My website was based off Wes Anderson the film director so I chose his film 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'. While designing our film poster we did a discover, define, develop and deliver phase for the poster putting our ideas together and narrowing it down to our final piece. This overall took about five to six weeks to do and enjoyed it a lot. I am looking forward to starting Visual Design Fundamentals this semester which has similarities to Design Process and Practice.

Some of my hobbies are I enjoy playing video games I like playing both single player games and multiplayer games and am a big fan of games such as the 'Last Of Us' made by Naughty Dog and Insomniacs 'Spiderman'. I also enjoy watching films and tv shows such tv shows include 'The Peaky Blinders', 'Game Of Thrones', 'Kin' and 'The Boys'. I also enjoy action and comedy films such as 'Dodgeball' and gritty action films like 'Brawl In Cell Block 99'. I also enjoy going to the gym regularly and running.

That poster you created as well looks quite impressive. And Visual Design Fundamentals is quite similar to Design Process and Practice, Its just we are learning a lot about Typography, Lettering etc.

  6. Hey Samuel,

Nice to learn a bit about you in your blog. My favourite module last year was Design as well. Your poster is done really well. Fair play for doing a face on the person because they're always so tricky to get right. See you around.
