This week on the beginner scripting we learned about the Destroy function which can be used to remove game objects or components at the run time in your game in unity.
Games MDA/DDE While reading the first article on MDA i didn't have an idea on what mDA stood for as now I know it stands for mechanics, dynamics and aesthetics. I also didn't know that it attempts to bridge the gap across game design, development and game criticism and technical research. While reading the article further I seen at how the mechanics dynamics and aesthetics each have their own job such as with mechanics which has the particular components of the game. Then with dynamics it has the run time and acts on players inputs and then for aesthetics it follows the emotional responses in the player. With all these components the add up to a finished game. Mechanic Dynamic Aesthetics For the second article I learned something new also on what the letters DDE stood for Design, Dynamics and Experience and how its an advancement on MDA. It tells us at how aspects of MDA was criticised and at how it focuses too much on mechanics and at how it isn't suitable for every game...
Reading 11 For this weeks reading task we had to add our topic of the book to the one document where it could be tested and that the interactive elements actually worked. Then we had to make sure that all elements of the document we're complete and were working and ready. From here then we had to agree for our section of the book to be put into the final book. From working on the book for a fair few weeks I was happy at how my topic had come out and at how I had completed it and found the topic that I wrote about interesting to learn and enjoyed learning new facts each and everyday that I had worked on it. Unity Tutorial 08 While working on Unity Tutorial 08 I found it easy to follow and found was fine with doing it the only problems that I ran into were at the start with the private tags in the spawn manager c# scripts which I managed to fix but Im not sure exactly how I managed to fix it though which is a problem for another day. I found the overall unity fun and easy to use and managed to get it all done and complete and found the game rather fun to play by the end by dodging the random enemies that spawn into the game and dodging them one by one very fun to do and complete. I look forward to the future unity tutorials that I can complete and work on. My Own Unity Image
